Lynn Nottage's play, directed by Leontyne Mbele-Mbong. New York, 1905: Esther, a Black seamstress, sews intimate apparel for clients from wealthy patrons to sex workers, and begins a correspondence with a man she has never met. At the Mercury Theater in Petaluma. Opening night, with a champagne toast.
