Piedmont Avenue Pumpkin Patch and Haunted House

About this event

A neighborhood Halloween tradition since 1996, Piedmont Avenue Pumpkin Patch and Haunted House packs plenty of seasonal fun into an unexpected spot in Oakland. Walk through the quirky Halloween store to discover a pumpkin patch filled with colorful varieties, creative displays and photo opportunities. Pick out your pumpkin, pose on a hay bale for a family picture, or find a spookier backdrop among the skeletons and coffins. Owner Jon Goldstein’s enthusiasm and pumpkin knowledge make browsing part of the fun. Ready for a fright? The haunted house offers two experiences: non-scary, with the lights on and sound off, and scary, with darkness, sound effects and surprises around the tight turns. I tried both—and the scary version caught me off guard more than once. On my visit, Jon and his staff made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. Come for the pumpkins, bring your camera and leave time to explore. Location: 4414 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland Haunted house: Separate admission; $10 during my visit. Confirm current pricing, seasonal dates and hours with the business before heading out.
