About this event
The Bernal Scream started in 2013 as a free show in Mike and Abel Barrera's San Jose backyard. Abel has since died; his son now runs it, and this is its second year at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. For 2026 it has doubled: one ticket gets you through two haunted houses, The Last Confession and Anxiety, in one 10,000-square-foot walk-through. It goes one way and isn't a maze. Before you go - Every sale is final, with no refunds for any reason. If you need a different night, email General@TheBernalScream.com to switch dates. - No bags at all. Also banned: food, drinks, cameras, pets, vaping and laser pointers. You can't take photos or video inside. - Parking was free in September. From October it starts at $15 on most weeknights and $20 on most weekends, on top of your ticket. - Use Gate C on Old Tully Road, under the big blue archway. The flyers show the fairgrounds' main Tully Road address, which is not where you go in. - Lines can run several hours on busy nights. Strobe lights are used inside. Guests who touch actors or props, or who seem intoxicated, are removed with no refund. Tickets General admission is $35. "Hold Your Own" is $40 and means you go through only with your own group, or alone if you prefer. A VIP Fast Pass with its own line costs $55.99 in September and Nov 6–8, and $65.99 from Oct 16 to Nov 1. Family packages for two adults and two children include the bounce houses. Senior (65+) and military discounts are sold in person only, not online. Nights and hours Doors open at 7:15pm. Early nights close at 10:15pm, and it stays open until midnight on Oct 23, 24, 30 and 31. It's closed most Mondays and Tuesdays until Oct 20, then open every night through Halloween. After Nov 1 there's a gap, and the last run is Nov 6–8, a week after most Bay Area haunts have shut. For people who don't want to be chased Little Ghouls Fright Hours are daytime walk-throughs of the same house with no actors and no jump scares: Oct 17 and 24 (4–6pm) and Oct 25 (4–6:30pm). They are for children 9 and under only, with up to two adults per child, and every guest needs a ticket. A sensory-friendly session runs Sun Oct 18, 4–6pm. The fairgrounds also have a first-year pumpkin patch, bounce houses and a glow-in-the-dark paintball range.
